Dr. Urška Pivk Kupirovič is a researcher in "Nutrition and Public health”. She is dedicated to research in monitoring and evaluating nutritional quality of foods with the nutrition profile models to stimulate food reformulation and to support consumers in selection of healthier foods. She is interested in consumer research, specially food related lifestyle, food literacy and their food intake. She works also in different Slovenian and international research projects and she is an author of several scientific articles in well-respected journals as well as a first author of published article in Critical Reviews in Food Science and Nutrition. She is setting a communication strategy to promote healthy eating and educates consumers about nutrition and public health. She is a communication expert to transform messages from science to general population. Her competence is also very wide knowledge of food regulation in EU. Her past experiences are from food industry, explicitly from two World leading food producers (Nestlé in Danone) including 5 years of work in Switzerland. She got her PhD at the University of Ljubljana in field of biotechnology with Nestlé scholarship. With her PhD work she significantly contributed to the understanding of mechanisms behind fat perception in food.

Nutrition institute is engaged in research and education in the field of nutrition and advising the food industry in the formulation and labeling of foods. In the scope of the institute, research group Healthy Nutrition is established, which performs research on food and nutrition.
