Researcher
dr. Maša Hribar is a researcher at the Nutrition Institute in Ljubljana, Slovenia. She is actively involved in the national research program Nutrition and Public Health and participates in several other national and international projects in the field of food and nutrition. She coordinates national food monitoring activities using the Composition and Labeling Information System (CLAS), a comprehensive database that supports research, policy-making, and public health initiatives through systematic data collection on prepacked foods and dietary supplements available on the Slovenian market. She also acts as a mentor and supervisor for students undertaking internships in nutrition and food science.
Maša graduated from the Biotechnical Faculty of the University of Ljubljana, Department of Food Science, and completed part of her studies at the University of Iceland, where she also worked as a research assistant in the field of nutrition. She earned her PhD in Biosciences, specializing in Nutrition, at the University of Ljubljana.
Her doctoral research focused on the determinants of vitamin D status in the adult Slovenian population. The results have informed national recommendations and strategies for improving vitamin D intake and status. In recognition of her contributions, she received the Jesenko Award in 2025 for outstanding doctoral research.
