Researcher, health and nutrition course manager

Živa Lavriša is a researcher in nutrition and public health, focusing in nutritional epidemiology research. Her research work includes investigating nutritional status of particular population groups and various nutrition-related epidemiological studies. As a leader of a nation-wide research project "NutriCare- Dietary challenges in the population of nursing homes' residents", she is currently focusing in research of  nutrition of the elderly and factors, contributing to frailty in this population - e.g. sarcopenia.

She participates in different national and European research projects. Her area of expertise also includes food labelling, including nutrient profiling models which are being increasingly used as a tool for categorising foods according to their nutritional composition, food marketing to children and research of trends in nutritional composition of foods. She is also active as a faculty lecturer on human nutrition and manager of health and nutrition programmes for different organisations.

She is the author of scientific papers, published in renown scientific journals, such as Nutrients, International Journal of Public Health, European journal of nutrition & food safety, Trends in food science & technology.

Institute of Nutrition is engaged in research and education in the field of nutrition and advising the food industry in the formulation and labeling of foods. In the scope of the institute, research group Healthy Nutrition is established, which performs research on food and nutrition.
