Živa Lavriša is a researcher in nutrition and public health. She is dedicated to researching nutritional composition of foods, focused also on nutrient profiling and food labelling. She participates in different national and European research projects. She is active in researching nutrient profiling models which are being increasingly used as a tool for categorising foods according to their nutritional composition. One of her interests is also food labelling, so she cooperates in different activities in this area. She is passionate in researching marketing of foods to children in media, which was, beside trends in nutritional composition of foods, also a part of her doctoral research in phD study of Nutrition on Biotechnical faculty in University of Ljubljana. She also participates in module Nutrients at Higher school of applied sciences in Ljubljana (VIST).  She also leads organisation of nutrition & healthy lifestyle courses for employees of different companies.

She is the author of papers, published in renown scientific journals, such as Nutrients, International Journal of Public Health, European journal of nutrition & food safety, Trends in food science & technology.

Nutrition institute is engaged in research and education in the field of nutrition and advising the food industry in the formulation and labeling of foods. In the scope of the institute, research group Healthy Nutrition is established, which performs research on food and nutrition.
